While performing a routine lighting check in Castle Pines Village, one of our technicians noticed something unusual deep in the wooded area behind a client’s home. About fifty feet from the house, partially hidden among the trees, stood a large metal sculpture of a deer. It was homemade, intricately crafted, and completely unexpected.
The client had lived on the property for years, yet had no idea when the statue appeared or how it got there. Intrigued, our technician snapped a photo and shared it with the team. Together, they began researching the origins and symbolism of the mysterious figure.
After digging through folklore and mythology, they discovered that the statue resembled a representation of a horned god — a mythological figure found in several cultures, known as a protector of animals, foliage, and wilderness. This guardian was said to embody the balance between the hunter and the hunted.
When we shared the story with the client, they were delighted by the idea of a silent protector watching over their woods. They chose to leave the statue where it stood, embracing its presence. From that point on, our technician made a habit of visiting the statue during each maintenance visit, sending regular updates and photos to the team who helped uncover its meaning.
